Sylvia Berkowitz, age 84, of St. Paul, passed away Feb. 15, 2011. Loving Mother, Baubie, Sister, Aunt and Friend. Preceded in death by loving husband, Irvin; siblings & spouses, Yordis & Charlie Hirschorn, Jenny & Irving Tenenholtz, Minnie & Louie Taple, Marion & Al Lovick, Florence & Harry Pistner, Sol & Eleanor Dudovitz; brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, Vernon & Ann Berkowitz, Esther Golob-Smerkins & Milt Golob, Cyril Berkowitz. Survived by children, Barb & Phil Herman, Dianne & Rich Danov, Mark Berkowitz, Dennis & Judy Berkowitz; grandchildren, Ross & Kim Herman, Cory & Dana Herman, Lisa Herman, Stacy Danov, Justin & Melissa Berkowitz; great-grandchildren, Daniel, Alexis, Tyler, Carly and Aidan Herman; also survived by brother-in-law, Herb Smerkins; sister-in-law, Elaine Berkowitz; many loving nieces and nephews. Special thanks to all of the caring staff at Sholom Home East, Hamline neighborhood. Sylvia was a strong and compassionate woman. She passed away with dignity and grace, just the way she lived her life. She was a wonderful role model and will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Funeral service THURSDAY (TODAY) 1:00 PM, TEMPLE OF AARON SYNAGOGUE, 616 S. Mississippi River Blvd., St. Paul. Memorials preferred to American Heart Association or donor’s favorite charity. SHIVA at Temple of Aaron Synagogue, Thursday & Saturday evening 7 pm.
