Shirley Milstein Vinitsky, 101, of the Twin Cities, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family. A lifelong resident of the Twin Cities, Shirley lived a remarkable century-long life marked by grace, resilience, and unwavering devotion to those she loved. When she lost her husband Norman early in life, she faced that heartbreak with quiet strength, forging ahead to guide her family with compassion, dignity and boundless love.
Shirley found joy in her Jewish faith, which remained a cornerstone of her life, and in spirited games of mahjong and golf with dear friends. And we can’t forget about her exuberant verbal coaching of the Vikings as she cheered and yelled at them on TV. Above all, she treasured her family, who were the center of her world. She is preceded in death by her parents, Hymie and Fannie Milstein. She is survived by her daughters, Robin Zaban (Mark) and Hope Vinitsky (Sylvie Benavides); grandchildren, Nick Zaban (Leigh) and Zack Zaban; and great-grandchildren, Zander and Marni Zaban; sister, Lenore Feldman, all of whom were blessed to have her in their lives for so many years. Shirley was a warrior – strong, loving, and steadfast until the very end. She will be deeply missed. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the compassionate staff at Sholom Home East Memory Care for their kindness and dedication.
