Sheyna Miriam Pikus Obituary (2008) - St. Louis Park, Minnesota

age 96, of St. Louis Park, formerly of Minsk, Belarus (USSR). Born November 8, 1911, passed away January 4, 2008. Preceded in death by loving husband, Fayva Pikus and 4 siblings. Survived by son Ilya (Raisa) Pikus of Philadelphia, daughter Anna (Semyon) Shmidov, grandchildren Alex (Sara) Pikus of Australia, Julia (Ron) Shmidov Latz, Lana (Michael) Pikus Henry of Philadelphia, Valentin Shmidov of Los Angeles, and great-grandchildren Nathan, Miya, Yana, Noah, Isabella and Leila. Sheyna was a teacher, a published author of school texts and a poetess. She was fluent in many languages, with an incredible thirst for knowledge, a wonderful sense of humor and a generous heart. Sheyna was clever, kind and adored by family and friends alike, with dancing eyes and a smile that lit up the room and touched everyone around her. But first and foremost she was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, known affectionately as Baba Mimi. Funeral service SUNDAY, January 6, 2008, 1:30 PM at TEMPLE ISRAEL, 2324 Emerson Ave., S. Mpls, followed by graveside service at Adath Chesed Shel Emes Cemetery, New Hope.
