Sherman R. Grossman Obituary (1928 - 2010)

Sherman R.Grossman age 81 of St. Paul died 8-23-2010. Preceded in death by parents, Meyer & Mollie Grossman; brothers, Phil and Don. Survived by wife of 61 years, Rita; sons, Robert (Suzanne), Stanley (Marianne), Daniel (Vicky) and Michael (Tanya) Farber; 11 grandchildren, Robbie, Joe, Scott, David, Adam, Steven, Laura, Elisabeth, Brian , Raviv and Naomi; sisters-in-law & brother-in-law Lila Grossman, Barb & Sol Minsberg. Sherm owned Lighting Specialties and other lighting maintenance companies since the early 1960’s. He retired in the 1990’s to devote all his time to what he loved doing the most: volunteer police work. He worked as a Neighborhood Assistance Officer for the St. Paul Police Department for over 25 years and served over 25,000 volunteer hours for them; he also volunteered for the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Department; his later stint was for the Salvation Army in St. Paul where he volunteered for over 6 years. He was a generous hardworking man who was successful in all his endeavors and had a great sense of humor. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Funeral service WEDNESDAY 12:30PM at MOUNT ZION TEMPLE, 1300 Summit Ave., St. Paul. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Mount Zion Temple, Salvation Army or the Humane Society of Ramsey County. SHIVA, 1731 Eleanor Ave., St. Paul (Wed & Thur 7:30 PM).
