Dr. Robert Elliot Bundt Obituary (1937 - 2023)

In loving memory of Dr. Robert Elliot Bundt (Rob, Robby) Dr. Bundt was a dedicated and compassionate healer. He passed away October 24, 2023 at the age of 86 of chronic kidney disease. He was surrounded by his family and his beloved wife, Jean. Dr. Bundt leaves a legacy of medical expertise, empathy, mentorship, and commitment. He profoundly impacted the lives of many generations of patients and colleagues. Dr. Bundt was born on February 21, 1937, and embarked on a remarkable career in Family Medicine. He graduated from the University of Minnesota Medical School in 1961. Dr. Bundt’s career extended for 51 years at Fairview Hospital clinics, where he held positions as Chair of the Patient Care Committee, Chief of Staff at Fairview Riverside, and a Fairview Riverside Board of Directors member. He spent most of his medical career as Medical Director of Family Medical Clinic and Fairview Highland Clinic. He is survived by his beloved wife, Jean; and sister, Nancy Bundt (Jorn Pettersen). Children, Jonathan “Yoni” (Debra), Erika Galili (Barak), Laura Yatim (Haim), Bryan Quevli (Beth), Eliana Lee (Vince); and his 16 grandchildren, Sky Galili, Danah Yatim, Mira Blume (Luther), Eden Galili, Avinoam Bundt, Raissa Lee, Tomi Bundt, Christopher Lee, Zoe Quevli, Shira Yatim, Kiriyah Lee, Anna Quevli, Arella Lee, Zakai Lee, Yedidyah Lee, Yeshayah Lee; and great-granddaughter, Alma Blume. Jean’s siblings - Jane Ewy (Dr. Wayne), Dr. Jo Matson (Don Jorovsky), and Dr. Steve Matson (Heidi). He is also survived by his loving cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by daughter, Suzanne Bundt; mother, Alice Bundt; father, Dr. Irving J Weiss; and adoptive father, David Bundt. His two passions were his family (including his most beloved dog, Barnaby) and medicine. He enjoyed Lionel electric trains, photography and Leica cameras, a Jaguar XKE 1967 primrose color, world travel, autumn leaves, and downhill skiing. He had a special love for Israel and speaking Hebrew. The family extends their appreciation for the fantastic support to the family from the staff at Presbyterian Homes and Optage Hospice, with special thanks to Nurse Erick. Service will be held Thursday, October 26, 2023, at 1:30 PM at BETH EL SYNAGOGUE, 5225 Barry Street W., St. Louis Park. Service and Shiva on zoom at www.hodroffs.com/DrBundt SHIVA: Thursday and Saturday, 7:00pm at Beth El Synagogue. The interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Minneapolis Jewish Family and Children's Services and Beth El Synagogue.
