Dr. Norton Rogin Obituary (1918 - 2014) - St. Louis Park, Minnesota

age 95 of St. Louis Park, MN, died peacefully at home on March 4, 2014. He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Elaine; daughters Nancy (Bob) Sachs, Dr. Joanne (Ron Abrams) Rogin-Abrams, Patricia Rogin-Pearson, Dr. Robyn (Mark Bennett) Rogin, and Beverly (Paul) Johnson; grandchildren Jillian Sachs, Benjamin (Rachel) Abrams, Alexander Abrams, Eitan Rogin, Sarah Johnson, and Phillip Johnson; and many relatives and friends, as well as "adopted" family members including "grandchildren" Rose and Dan. Dr. Rogin was born in Russia in 1918 and came to the USA in 1926. After serving as a flight surgeon in WWII, he practiced medicine and surgery for many years before retiring in 1988. He then focused on his second career with MN's Social Security Disability Board until retiring again shortly before he turned 90. Dr. Rogin was a warm and gentle man of high integrity and tenacious spirit. He was a progressive thinker with a love of learning and a wonderful sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him. The family is grateful for the loving care provided by his doctors, their staffs, and by his dear aides Ellen, Victoria, and Josephine. Memorial service at 12:30 p.m., SUNDAY, March 9, 2014, at TEMPLE ISRAEL, 2324 Emerson Ave. S., Minneapolis. Memorials are preferred to the donor's favorite charity.
