Norlie Feinstein Obituary (1920 - 2012) - St. Louis Park, Minnesota

Norlie H. Feinstein, age 91 passed away peacefully May 2nd at his home in St. Louis Park. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years, Shirley Goldman Feinstein, parents Abraham & Mattie Feinstein and brother, Harold. Norlie is survived by his devoted and loving children; Lee, Steve (Linda) and Cathy (Jeff) Molever; seven grandchildren, Mike (Gina) Feinstein, Scotty (Laura) Feinstein, Sara Feinstein, Jamie (Eric) Greenspan, Matthew (Carli) Feinstein, Ben Molever, and Melissa Feinstein; great grandchild Nash; sister Natalie Dworsky; and other dear relatives and friends. Norlie was born in Artesian, SD, was raised in Aberdeen, SD, and later resided in Mitchell, SD, Palm Springs, CA, and the greater Minneapolis area. A lifelong businessman and entrepreneur, Norlie continued to actively explore new business opportunities until his final days. Norlie was a graduate of the University of Minnesota, where he served as president of the Sigma Alpha Mu fraternity. He also did post graduate work in mathematics and psychology at Stanford University and the University of Pennsylvania while serving in the US Army during World War II. Subsequently, after a whirlwind courtship, he married Shirley and settled down to raise his family in Mitchell. Norlie operated clothing stores in South Dakota and Minnesota, initiated numerous other ventures, and actively served on various community boards. Norlie was devoted to his family and often spoke of his boundless pride in his children, grandchildren and great-grandchild. He was an absolutely wonderful, sweet, outgoing, intellectually curious gentleman with a terrific sense of humor. He also was a musician who played piano and flute. He was widely respected for his integrity and sense of loyalty, was a confidante to many, and was genuinely loved by everyone who knew him. Special thanks to exemplary care to Dr. Alan Divine, the Knollwood nursing and other staff (especially Heidi) and Allina Hospice. Funeral service FRIDAY May 11th at 1:30pm at MINNEAPOLIS JEWISH CEMETERY CHAPEL, 70 ½ at Penn Ave. So., Richfield. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Feinstein/Dworsky/Molever Fund at the Jewish Family and Children’s Service of Minneapolis, 13100 Wayzata Blvd., Suite 400, Minnetonka, MN 55305.
