Muriel "June" Margoles Obituary (1922 - 2010)

Muriel "June" Margoles,died peacefully on December 4, 2010. Preceded in death by husband of 53 years, Simon and daughter, Susan. Survived by son, Alan (Cheryl Speeter) and brother, Lawrence D. (Kathi) Cohen. Also survived by her grandchildren, Sarah, Daniel and Michelle. June was a dedicated political activist and staunch DFLer. She successfully managed the St. Paul mayoral campaign of her brother, Larry Cohen; organized and managed presidential campaigns at the district level in Minnesota and elsewhere for Eugene McCarthy and George McGovern; and actively contributed to countless other political campaigns. June's political savvy and sense of justice informed her tenure as a member of the DFL state central committee and as a board member of the MN Civil Liberties Union. She was a lover of literature, music and the arts, and shared her beautiful voice as a member of the Temple of Aaron choir for 70 years.
