Mimi Nachman

–

Burnsville, Minnesota

Mimi Joan Rosenbloom Nachman, a beacon of light and love in this world, passed away at the age of 93 on December 24, 2025. Born in Gary, Indiana, on February 7, 1932, to the late Philip and Jeanette Rosenbloom, Mimi's life was testament to the words of Maya Angelou, "My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style." Mimi was a woman who lived with an abundance of all four, leaving a lasting impact on the countless lives she touched.

Mimi's life was marked by her profound dedication to service, both professionally and personally. She found her calling as an occupational therapist, serving the visually impaired at Vision Loss Resources until her retirement in 1995. Mimi's service extended far beyond her career, as she was deeply involved in community engagement. From serving on boards focused on Jewish senior housing development, to contributing to the Burnsville History book, to co-founding the Burnsville Bicentennial Garden, Mimi made every effort to enrich and uplift her community. Her passion for music resonated throughout her life, as she sang in numerous choirs, using her voice to spread joy and harmony. As Albert Einstein once said, "Only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile," and Mimi's life was indeed a testament to this sentiment.

Mimi's love for her family was immeasurable. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 67 years, Leonard Robert Nachman, Jr., and her son-in-law, Alan Potash. Mimi's legacy will continue to live on through her five children: Gary (Sheila), Dale (Patty), Amy, Amanda (Scott), and Alison (Oliver); her eleven grandchildren, Shaina, Marty, Ben, Philip, Hannah, Lev, Adeev, Ezra, Sam, Maceo, and Felix; and her two great-grandchildren. Her love, wisdom, and spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her.

A memorial service will be held at Beth Jacob Congregation in Mendota Heights, Minnesota, at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 26, 2025. Interment will take place in Gary, Indiana, on Sunday, December 28, with family. Donations in Mimi’s memory may be made to Dakota County Symphony and Chorus, Vision Loss Resources, or Jewish Family Service of St. Paul. To honor Mimi's life and legacy, we encourage you to share your memories and upload photos to the memorial page. As we mourn her loss, let us remember the words of Emily Dickinson, "Unable are the loved to die, for love is immortality." Mimi Nachman's love will continue to live on in all of us.
