Milton Cecil Zimmerman Obituary (1922 - 2018)

Milton Cecil Zimmerman, formerly of St. Louis Park, passed away July 8, 2018, at the age of 95. He was born November 24, 1922, and grew up in St. Paul. He was a proud WWII Navy veteran which is where he met his wife, Marguerite. After the war, Milt and Marguerite married and had twin sons. He worked as a long-time, press operator for the Star Tribune. Once retired, he moved to Deerfield Beach, FL, where he was an active member in his senior living community. During his long life, Milt enjoyed fishing tips with his sons to Manitoba, Ontario, and Northern Minnesota, maintaining his fitness, sports (including baseball and college basketball), driving nice cars and music (his favorites include Frank Sinatra and Duke Ellington). He also had a passion for dancing and frequently traveled the country to attend social dancing events. His family will greatly miss Milt’s strong will, mischievousness, flirtatious demeanor and ear-to-ear grin. Preceded in death by his wife, Marguerite; twin sons, Alfred and Aaron; and brother, Jack. He leaves behind his grandchildren, Tanya Pay (Jason), Aaron Michael Zimmerman, Nickolas Zimmerman (Cassie) and Michael Pankow (Emily); and 11 great-grandchildren. Also survived by his brother, Sylvan (Isabelle); and many nieces, nephews and relatives across the country. Graveside service will be held Thursday, July 12, at 11:00 AM at the Chesed Shel Emes Cemetery, 1600 Christie Pl., St. Paul.
