Born February 5, 1920 in St. Paul, MN. Passed away peacefully on January 22, 2009 at home surrounded by loving family. She is preceded in death by husbands, George Levine and Harold Frishberg; parents, Michael and Becky Simon; brothers, Melvin, Nathan, Harry (Hershey) and Richard; brothers-in-law, Mike Diamond and Al Levine; sister, Ethie Rutzick; sisters-in-law, Nettie Miller and Lee Cooperman. She is survived by daughter, Nancy (Larry) Saliterman; son, Bob Levine and Gloria Finley; grandchildren, Scott P.J. (Crystal) and Jonathan Saliterman, Charlie and Mickey Levine and great-granddaughter, Ruby Anna Saliterman; sisters, Mitzi Diamond, Eileen Brooks; sisters-in-law, Elaine Simon, Beverly Simon, Phyllis Simon, Lois Levine and Fanny Kirschbaum; brother, Leon (Maxine) Simon, brother-in-law, Yale Rutzick and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Together with George she founded Penny’s Super Markets and actively participated in the business. She was a well-respected member of the business community, a woman ahead of her time. The family wishes to thank Sandra Nelson and the health care team for their compassionate care provided over the years and assistance in living her life to the end with dignity. Marion will be remembered by those who knew, loved and admired her for her generosity, kindness and intelligence. Funeral service SUNDAY January 25, 2009 1PM at TEMPLE ISRAEL, 2324 Emerson Ave. S., Mpls. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer’s Association, 4550 W. 77th St., Edina, MN 55435 (952-830-0572) the American Diabetes Association or the donor’s favorite charity.
