L. Michael Shapiro

Passed away on July 1, 2024, after a brave battle with leukemia. Michael was born in Minneapolis, MN on June 7, 1949. He was a true gentleman and loyal friend, known for his ready, beaming smile and a discerning taste for coffee.
Preceded in death by parents, Alan and Marilyn Shapiro. Survived by loving partner and best friend, Karol Carstensen; brothers, Jeffrey (Barbara) Shapiro and James (Wendy) Shapiro; aunt, Leslee Shapiro; nephews, Matthew (Melissa) Shapiro and Sam (Kacie) Shapiro; niece, Sydney Shapiro; cousins, Jed Marquisee, Alison Marquisee, Jesse Marquisee, Karen Jaffee and Gena (Joe) Janetka.
Funeral service 11:00am, FRIDAY, July 5th, at TEMPLE ISRAEL, 2323 Fremont Ave S, Minneapolis.
Shiva 7:00pm SATURDAY, July 6th at Blake Ridge Townhomes Clubhouse, 6071 Blake Ridge Rd, Edina. Memorials to National Public Radio, the Humane Society, Temple Israel or the donor’s preferred charity.
