Joan Barbara Chargo Weinberg Silver, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and cousin, passed away on November 5, 2026.
Born on September 15, 1937, Joan was raised in Willmar, Minnesota, by her loving parents, Sophie and Morris Chargo, alongside her brothers, Eddie and Harvey, who both preceded her in death.
Joan married Ted Weinberg, with whom she shared three children: Debra Tasci, Jeffrey Weinberg, and Laura Cagan.
In 1981, Joan met the love of her life, Allen Silver. They shared 44 wonderful years together and remained devoted to one another until her passing.
Joan’s family was the center of her world. She is survived by her loving husband, Allen Silver; her children, Debra Tasci, Jeffrey Weinberg, and Laura Cagan; her stepdaughter, Becky Swenson; and her cherished grandchildren: Michael Cagan (Jane), Tyler Tasci, Sarah Tasci (Ryan), Erica Cagan, Michelle Cagan, Ruby Weinberg, Jackson Weinberg, and Sander Swenson. In her later years, Joan was blessed with one of life’s greatest joys: her great-grandson, little Joshua Cagan, who brought her an extraordinary amount of happiness and love.
Joan was deeply grateful for her nieces, nephews, and cousins, and treasured being part of the Jewish family traditions that meant so much to her. These traditions, the family gatherings, and the bonds shared across generations were an important part of who she was and the life she cherished.
Joan will be remembered for the love she gave, the family she brought together, the memories she created, and the special place she held in the hearts of those who knew her. Her legacy lives on through the many generations of family who loved her and the traditions they will continue to share.
Funeral Service 2:00 PM, Sunday, November 8, 2026, at Minneapolis Jewish Cemetery Chapel, 7032 Penn Avenue South, Minneapolis. A Shiva gathering will follow at 5:30 p.m. at Beth El Synagogue.
