Jeanette Spencer Obituary (2009) - St. Louis Park, Minnesota

Jeanette Spencer Born February 22, 1920, of Minneapolis, MN, passed away on January 24th surrounded by her loving family. Preceded in death by her sisters Claire Feller and Rose Altman, twin brother Harry Silver and parents Eva and Karl Silver. Survived by her adoring husband of 57 years, Dr. Allen Spencer; sons and daughters-in-law and grandchildren (who all knew her as Nana), Jack & Marlene (Katie & Lindsay), Craig & Debbie (Andrew & Abby), David & Stacey (Carly & Braden); sister-in-law, Jean Silver; brother and sister in-law, Irwin & Lila Shapiro; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was the true matriarch of the family and she will be deeply missed by all. Before marrying and raising 3 boys, she lived and worked in Chicago where she received a special commendation from President FDR for her volunteer service in the Women’s Defense League during WWII. Her grace and charm will always surround those who remember her fondly; she was ‘lady’. The family wants to thank Dr. Alan Divine and the wonderfully caring nurses in the Oncology Ward at Abbott. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 on MONDAY, January 26th at HODROFF-EPSTEIN MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 126 East Franklin Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55404.
