Ione F. Stiegler Obituary (1925 - 2019)

Ione Stiegler, of St. Louis Park, passed away on her 94th birthday, December 10, 2019. Ione was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who always put family first, teaching them the true meaning of unconditional love. In addition she made everyone she met feel truly special. Ione grew up in the Northside of Mpls, attending North High School, where she met the love of her life, Alan. Their love survived WWII and they married on July 4, 1948. Ione attended the University of MN where she received her BA and Master’s in Speech Pathology. She taught speech in the public school system for over twenty years while also raising her family. She was instrumental in helping hundreds of children with their speech challenges. Throughout her life Ione enjoyed cooking and entertaining for her friends and family, especially during the traditional Jewish holidays. She was an active passionate member of Beth El Synagogue her entire life. She also enjoyed skiing, golf and traveling with Alan throughout the world. Ione’s crowning achievement and gift to her family was the work she did finding lost relatives from around the world, developing a family tree, and organizing family reunions. Preceded in death by parents, Max and Bessie Furman; husband, Alan Stiegler; sister, Phyllis Blicker. Survived by children, Beth (Scott) Puchtel, Paul (Jill) Stiegler, Ira (Sally) Stiegler; 10 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren. Funeral service 11:00 am on Sunday, December 15, 2019, at Beth El Synagogue 5225 Barry Street W., St. Louis Park. Memorials preferred to donor's favorite charity.
