–

Golden Valley, Minnesota

Idelle Abrams, Born Idelle Abrams September 8, 1945. Idelle grew up in Minneapolis. She graduated from Southwest High and attended U of M. She was married, had 2 children and moved to Florida in 1972. Idelle was very active in her children’s school and local politics. In the mid 1980’s Idelle worked for the Supervisor of Elections registering people to vote then spent many years as one of South Florida’s first woman bail bondsmen. Being an amazing cook and even better chocolatier, Idelle went on to become a pioneer restaurateur opening the Chocolate Jungle, a full service restaurant and chocolate emporium where she won many local awards for best chocolate. A house fire in the early 2000’s nearly took Idelle but she survived after months of rehab but the event left her lungs greatly compromised. Idelle moved to Melbourne, Fl shortly thereafter to be near her daughter and grandchildren. Idelle spent many happy years gardening and working on the NYT crossword puzzle until her health deteriorated. Idelle then lived with her daughter, Kim, for a short time until Kim’s tragic passing. After a small stint back in South Florida, Idelle felt a longing to be back in Minnesota where she lived for the last year and half. Idelle is survived by her three older sisters, Maurine, Sissie, and Rhoda, her son Justen and four grandchildren, Zackary, Zoey, Jacob and Jordan. Idelle died on March 12 watching her favorite tv program, MSNBC. She will be laid to rest at the Adath Yeshurun Cemetery and will be buried next to her best friend, her daughter Kim.
