Herb Sorin Obituary (2008) - Naples, Florida

Sorin, Herbert L. “Herb”, age 91, of Naples, FL, formerly of Minneapolis, passed away at home surrounded by his wife and daughter, on Tuesday, July 29th. Herb was born on September 29, 1916, of Russian immigrant parents. Preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, first wife, Ruth; and daughter, Bonnie. He is survived by his wife, Patricia (nee Utecht), of Naples, FL; daughter, Madelyn (Bruce) Bergen, of Plymouth; grandchildren, Robert (Jennifer) Kaplan, of St. Paul, Robyn Wiener and Mark (Lori) Wiener, of Canada; great-granddaughters, Naomi and Bella Kaplan. He will also be greatly missed by his extended family in St. Paul, Minneapolis and California. Herb was a member of the Oldsmobile Vanguard Council for most of the 35 years he worked in sales and management for two dealerships in St. Paul and Minneapolis. He was a member of Osman Shrine Temple for over 60 years. He was a member of the Glades Country Club in Naples, FL, where he was a past president of the Glades Men’s Golf Association. He was a volunteer driver for the Disabled Veterans in Naples. Herbie was loved by everyone who knew him. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He never met a stranger everyone was a friend. A special thank-you to AVOW Hospice and the nurses and staff of 5 North at Naples Community Hospital. Funeral service THURSDAY (TODAY) 1 PM UNITED HEBREW BROTHERHOOD CEMETERY CHAPEL, 70 ½ & Thomas Ave. S., Richfield. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to AVOW Hospice, 1095 Whippoorwill Lane, Naples, FL 34105 or to donor’s favorite charity. SHIVA immediately after the burial at Greenbriar Apts., 10505 Cedar Lake Rd., Minnetonka in the community room. A memorial service will be held in Naples, FL at a later date.
