Henry Kristal The family of Henry Kristal, age 75, announces his passing. Henry died on Saturday, December 22, 2007, of complications from surgery, in his winter home in Scottsdale, Arizona. Born in Joliet, IL in 1932, Henry moved to St. Paul with his family when he was a young boy. It was working as a butcher in his father’s butcher shop when Henry first developed his passion for food and the service industry. Many years later, in 1956, after serving in the Navy, Henry co-founded Embers Restaurants. He was an active leader in the foodservice industry in the Midwest. Henry served as the President of the Minnesota Restaurant Association, was among a select group of the first inductees into the Minnesota Restaurant Association Hospitality Hall of Fame in 2005, and received the prestigious St. Paul Area Chamber of Commerce Legacy of Leadership Award in 2006. Henry’s uninhibited spirit gave him the compassion and heart to inspire, comfort and cheer for all of the people he touched throughout his life. His legacy is special and timeless. And no one feels this as profoundly as his family. Henry is survived by his loving wife and life companion, Cheryle, his 5 children Jody (Howard), David (Cristiana), Danny (Joey), Adam (Becky) and Marissa (Scott), his 9 grandchildren, Ben, Bari, Annie, Lizzie, Kyla, Cole, Andre, Seth and Gabe, and his brother Herb (Ev). The world has lost one of its most beautiful people. Funeral service WEDNESDAY December 26th 11 AM, TEMPLE OF AARON SYNAGOGUE, 616 So. Mississippi River Blvd., St. Paul.
