Harvey Rochlin, son of Joseph and Lillian Rochlin, died peacefully on January 5 with his wife by his side. Harvey was born and raised in the storied North Minneapolis of the 1930s and 1940s. He was the youngest of 5 children, with his oldest sibling 18 years older.
After high school, Harvey attended the University of Minnesota, where he obtained a business degree. He then enlisted in the Navy and served as a lieutenant on an Air Force carrier near Japan. His service in the Navy was impactful and memorable to him for the rest of his life. Upon his return to Minnesota, Harvey began a long and successful career in public accounting. He was always a numbers person and enjoyed helping his clients with their business finances. He was still thinking about tax returns and finances right to the end. Harvey met his wife, Harriett, on a double date (Harvey’s roommate was dating Harriett, and Harvey was dating someone else). Harvey proposed to Harriett on their first official date, and they were married three months later. He spent the rest of his life making sure she had everything she wanted. They celebrated their 60th anniversary last year, with their three children and five grandchildren.
Harvey was known for his love of bridge, tennis, travel, music and long walks. But mostly he was known for his integrity, intelligence, and strength of character. He is survived by wife Harriett, children David (Pam), Joel (Bobbi) and Deb (Brad) Frank, and grandchildren Adam, Emma, Noah, Gavin, and Sydney, who will remember him and honor his memory.
