Grigoriy Chernyakov, age 95, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 18, 2026, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. His passing came just three days after that of his beloved wife, who left us on September 15, 2023. Both departed on Fridays during the High Holidays, three years apart — a reflection of their lifelong bond and devotion.
Born in 1931 in the former USSR, Grigoriy lived through hardship and war, losing his father at age 11 and surviving the turmoil of World War II. His mother’s courage and strength shaped his own resilience and compassion.
After the war, Grigoriy earned a Master’s degree in Engineering and went on to lead the construction of a major industrial plant in Shostka, where his leadership and integrity earned the respect of all who worked with him. He served as CEO for many years until his retirement.
After immigrating to Minnesota, Grigoriy found joy in fishing, gardening, and spending time with friends and family. He cherished his granddaughter Julia and was blessed to meet his great-grandchildren. Even during his years in the nursing home, his warmth and humor touched everyone around him.
Grigoriy will be remembered for his kindness, perseverance, and deep love for his family. His life was a testament to strength, humility, and the enduring power of love.
