Dr. Georges Goldhammer Obituary (1945 - 2024)

Georges Goldhammer, DDS, age 79, of Burnsville, Minnesota, passed away on April 3rd, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his family. Georges is preceded in death by his parents, Maurice Goldhammer and Rachel Elmaleh. He is survived by his sister, Michelle Harvey; his wife of 49 years, Danielle; his children, Phillip and Adam; and many close friends and extended family. Born in Casablanca, Morocco, he moved to France in 1956, where he completed his dental education at the Faculty of Dental Surgery in Paris, France. After graduation he served in the army in the French Military Medical Service. He began as a corporal and worked his way up to the rank of Captain. After his military service he began practicing dentistry, where he met his wife, Danielle. They moved to Minnesota in 1975, where he completed rigorous training at the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry, where he was one of only a few foreign trained dentists to graduate. He worked in a private practice before he co-founded a nonprofit organization called Apple Tree Dental in1985. Dr. Goldhammer pioneered many new ways to serve older adults in nursing homes while serving as a dentist and Board Member at Apple Tree. The model he helped create has been replicated in Minnesota and nationally. His exceptional clinical skills together with his kindness, gentle good nature, limitless patience, and strong values earned him the love and respect of his patients and their families, and all of his co-workers at Apple Tree.
