Halpern, Ernest Samuel, age 82, of Edina and Scottsdale , AZ ; formerly of Glen Ullin, ND, born in Bismarck , ND on April 9, 1924 . Passed away March 24, 2007 peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family. He is preceded in death by parents, Isadore & Ethel; brothers, David and Charles. He is survived by wife of 57 years, Audrey; sons, Jamie (Kelly Finnerty), Jon (Sally), David (Beth); daughter, Sally (Bruce) Rosenberg; grandchildren, Ben (Julie), Marnie, Josie (Linnea), Jessie, Rachael, Danielle and Jennifer; great-granddaughter, Ella; brother-in-law, Fred Radin; sister-in-law, Dorothy Feldman; also several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Ernie was a retired executive vice president at Regis Corporation, a volunteer at SCORE MN and the Arizona Chamber of Commerce. He always wanted to be a teacher, trained as a dentist at the U of M. Ernie had widely traveled, was a collector of fine arts and crafts, a motorcycle and sidecar aficionado, and an avid golfer. He founded the Ernie Invitational Golf Tournament in Scottsdale . He was a long standing member of Temple Israel . Ernie was known by all as a very good man who maintained his sweetness and humor even during the last years of his illness. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. Funeral service MONDAY (TODAY) 2 PM , TEMPLE ISRAEL , 2324 Emerson Ave. S. , Mpls. Memorials preferred to Temple Israel or donor’s favorite charity.
