Daloris Natalie Lowenthal "Dee" Obituary (1932 - 2014)

Daloris Natalie Lowenthal “Dee” (nee Silverman) Age 82, of Minneapolis, born February 11, 1932 in Minneapolis, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2014 in St. Paul, Minnesota. Daughter of Joseph and Rachel (Ginsberg) Silverman, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Lowenthal. She is survived by her four children, Rhonda (Ken) Fox, Steve (Ruth), Garry and Jeff and by her seven grandchildren Raina, Alina, and Ian Fox, Erin, Max, Marc and Rachel Lowenthal. Born and raised in old North Minneapolis, she was active in a number of civic and fraternal organizations, including B’nai B’rith Women, Soroptimist, Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority, and the Order of the Eastern Star of Montana. She studied fashion merchandizing at the University of Minnesota and, after moving with her family to Billings, Montana in 1972, she owned two clothing businesses and a fur store, State Fur Company. Daloris had a zest for life and the ability to befriend anyone she met. She loved to travel, visiting Europe, the Middle East and Asia. She was also a frequent visitor to Washington DC and New York for both family visits and business. Dee was known for her love of all things lavender, her laugh and her large collection of hats. She was also known for having helped her blind mother see the world through her eyes. She loved, and was deeply loved, by all who knew her. Funeral service 2 pm Tuesday at ADATH YESHURUN CEMETERY CHAPEL, 56th & France Ave., Edina. In lieu of flowers memorials preferred to National Federation of the Blind of Minnesota, 100 East 22nd St., Minneapolis, MN 55404.
