Clare Schwartz "Hiki" Obituary (1921 - 2014)

Clare Schwartz “Hiki” age 92, of Edina, passed away May 10, 2014. Preceded in death by parents, Jacob & Rose Schwartz; sisters, Jeanette Schwartz and Esther (Jay) Paul; brother, Robert (Nan) Schwartz; brother-in-law, Wesley Siegel. Survived by brother, Paul (Gloria) Schwartz; sister, Lois Siegel; nieces and nephews, Mark, Richard (Catherine) Siegel, Janet (Charlie) Leavitt, Linda (Joel) Friedman, Lauren Schwartz, Arnell (Jim) Burghorn, and Ari (Jen) Schwartz; Numerous great nephews and nieces, extended family Patty & Barry Feld, Berman cousins, lifelong friends Rose Averbach and Florence Zentner. Clare had a lifelong commitment to the community, active in women’s organizations, serving as President of District 6 of Jewish Women International (formerly BBW), tutoring 3rd grade students at Willard Elementary School, and volunteering at St. Louis Park Emergency Program (STEP). Clare will be remembered for her kindness, willingness to serve, love and do good deeds. Funeral services MONDAY 1 PM at BETH EL SYNAGOGUE, 5225 Barry St. W., St. Louis Park. Memorials preferred to STEP or the Schwartz/Mittelman fund at Beth El. SHIVA, Monday and Tuesday 7 pm at the home of Lois Siegel.
