I am devastated to share news of the sudden passing of my dear and beautiful daughter, Catherine Newman Boardman. Catie was born in Manhattan on July 29, 1987 to Miriam-Rachel Oxenhandler Newman (Margie Newman) and Ben Boardman. Catie is survived by her parents; her beloved brother, Owen; dog, Tango; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins and other family and dozens of friends around the world. Catie was a kind, inclusive, ebullient person. She is known for her communal Thanksgiving dinners, which she
held to ensure that people who didn’t spend Thanksgiving with their family for whatever reason had a place to go. She studied film at MCTC and family social science at the University of Minnesota. Catie is known far and wide for her delectable cooking and baking. She created stunning wedding cakes for friends and even became a wedding officiant so she could help people
create their dream celebration, Catie was a multi talented creative person, astounding her friends and family with her creations in many media.
