Aron A. Khazan Obituary (1922 - 2020)

Aron Khazan, nearly 98 yrs old, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2020 in his home surrounded by his wife and youngest son. Aron was the youngest of three children and was preceded in death by his parents (Aron and Briana) and sisters (Manya and Minya). He is survived by his wife of 74 years of marriage, Klavdiya (Chaya); his children – Semen (and Klara) and Arkadiy (and Galina); his grandchildren - Irina, Emiliya, and Yuliya; and his great grandchild - Elina. Aron and his wife immigrated to the United States in 1997 from Belarus and have lived happily in MN since then with their family nearby. Aron served in WWII in the former Soviet Union for 3 years. He was injured twice and honored with various medals. He was most proud of his medals for: Order of the Red Star, Order of the Patriotic War, Medal “For Battle Merit”, and Medal “For Courage”. After the war, he miraculously found his way back to his family, who had escaped from the Nazi’s during the Holocaust. He was a smart, knowledgeable, and loving man. After the war, he became a history professor and eventually became Director of two middle schools in Turov and Pinsk, Belarus. In addition, from 1992-1997, Aron served as a vital committee member of a Synagogue and a leader in the Jewish Community in Pinsk, Belarus. Aron loved his family very much and was loved by them. He taught his granddaughters to play chess and dominoes. He was a champion domino player and played routinely with his friends late into his years. Aron lived a long, healthy, and happy life. He will be deeply cherished and remembered.
