Anne "Chana" Ptaszek Obituary (1924 - 2017)

Anne Ptaszek "Chana" age 92, a strong inspirational Holocaust survivor, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2017. Anne's journey represented not only an incredibly strong, humble, and determined woman, but a light to never lose hope and never give up. Anne was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, auntie, and friend. Her humor and care for others enriched the lives of those around her. She was a masterful seamstress by trade and enjoyed sewing clothes and dozens of baby quilts as gifts for family and friends and made a memorable matzo ball soup. She loved spending time with her family and especially, her two grandchildren, her pride and joy. She will be greatly missed and her memory will live on through the Steven Spielberg Shoah Foundation, and in the hearts and minds of her loving family and friends. Preceded in death by her parents, Chiam Libesh and Pearl Mandelbaum; husband, Samuel "Shea"; daughter, Rose Lee; sisters, Masha and Golda Mandelbaum, Mindall Gutman and Eda Strauss; brothers-in-law, Ben Kibort, Witek Strauss and David Gutman. Survived by children, Larry (Sharon) and Steve (Sharon Lehrman); grandchildren, Jason and Rachel; sister, Reva Kibort; brother, Mark (Roberta) Mandel and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Thank you to the caring staff at Jones-Harrison residence for their kindness to Anne over the last 5-1/2 years. Graveside service 1:00 PM SUNDAY, January 29, 2017, at ADATH CHESED SHEL EMES CEMETERY, 3740 Winnetka Ave. N., Crystal.
