Alvin “Al” Gleekel, age 86 of St. Louis Park passed away July 2, 2012. Preceded in death by parents, Freida and Joseph Gleekel; and sister, Barbara. Survived by wife of 52 years, Barbara; children, Janny (Alan) Silver, Bonnie Levy, David Gleekel (Steve Ritch), James Gleekel (Sherri); grandchildren, Stephen (Rebecca) Silver, Amy Silver (fiancé Jason Spangenthal), Jessica Wohl, Maddie, Sophie and Sam Gleekel; great-grandchildren, Noah and Jonah Silver; brother, Sherry Gleekel (Mimi); sister, Sue Hallfin (Dick Joy); brother-in-law, Stephen (Faye) Krupp; many nieces and nephews. Al was a graduate of North High and honorably served as a Medical Corpsman in the US Navy during WWII. He was the owner of Penn Auto Plaza, and a former president of the Minnesota Automobile Dealers Association. Funeral service TUESDAY, 1:00PM, BETH EL SYNAGOGUE, 5224 W. 26th St., St. Louis Park.
