Alan Charles Kronfeld 1930-2023
Alan Kronfeld, predeceased by wife, Marcy; parents, Abraham and Rose; siblings, Florence, Leonard and Mervin. The son of Jewish immigrants from Eastern Europe, he grew up on Riverside Drive on the Upper West side of Manhattan. He attended public school, then enlisted in the army where he successfully completed his tour of duty. He met his lovely wife, Marcy in a movie theater where she worked when she told him and his best friend, David to “shut up” during a movie. After that being their first fight, they quickly got married and stayed married for the next 68 years. Shortly thereafter, he was called up to service during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1951. Subsequently, he studied at University of Maine and University of Colorado at Boulder, receiving a degree in electrical engineering. Following graduation, he worked for Arma, designing guidance systems for intercontinental ballistic missiles. His brother, Leonard started a magnetic tape recording technology manufacturing company, Nortronics, basing the company in Minnesota. Alan and Mervin joined their brother in Minnesota in the 1960s and built a successful business. Alan was part of a family that is the true American success story of first generation children of immigrants. He will be horribly missed but lovingly remembered as an everlastingly dedicated husband, father,
grandfather, business partner, engineer and all around kind, decent human being. He loved classical music, books, old movies, his work, ping-pong, but most of all his family. He is survived by his children, Rosalind Kronfeld-Wilbanks (David Wilbanks), Richard Kronfeld, (Robin Doroshow); grandchildren, Theodore Kronfeld and Raina Kronfeld; nieces, Suzy Kronfeld (David Baum), Rita Kronfeld-Loeb (Ernest Loeb), Meryl Rosner, Vicki Cameron, Beth Lyon; nephews, Mark Chaplin, Clayton Folsom, Rob Moran, G.B. Moran, Stephen Moran, Chris Moran. Graveside service at ADATH YESHURUN CEMETERY, 5605 France Ave S, Edina, MN, Monday, October 9, 2pm. Service also on zoom at: www.hodroffs.com/AlanKronfeld
